POWER of words + gratitude

I have kept books full of my favorite quotes since I was a teenager.  Any words I liked, were meaningful to me, taught me something or changed my state of mind…I wrote down and keep in books.

Now Cheryl Strayed has perfectly explained the reason why I’ve kept these words close to me for so long in her new book, Brave Enough.

“…I believe in the power of words to help us reset our intentions, clarify our thoughts, and create a counternarrative to the voice of doubt many of us have murmuring in our heads-the one that says, You can’t, you won’t, you shouldn’t have.  Quotes, at their core, almost always shout Yes!”

I shared her awesome words above and these quotes about gratitude in my yoga classes this week.  Thank you Cheryl Strayed!

Happy Halloween-What do you FEAR?

fear_quotes_images_free_7215645494What can I overcome?  What can I rise above when I’d rather run?  In the spirit of Halloween-this was my set intention for my yoga classes this week.

Fear-Quotes-30When you come to the edge of all the light you have known, and are about to step out into darkness, Faith is knowing one of two things will happen; There will be something to stand on, or you will be taught to fly.

What is my something solid?  How can I fly?

The Space Between

This used to be just a Dave Matthews Band song to me.  Thanks to Tracee Ellis Ross (and an Awesome yoga instructor Sam), it is even more meaningful now. Don’t we all reach many points in life where we wish things were different than they are?

Project Happiness ☺️

if you don’t follow project happiness. here’s a fav I loved from today.

What makes you feel that way? Yourself? Your kids? Your job? Your friend? Your favorite vacation spot?  A loved one? A sweet pet? Breathe that feeling in. Stay with it. Live from there.

Growing old, am I the only one?

Am I the only one that adores the messages and lessons on Chipotle bags?

I know I’ve shared these Chipotle bags before…  I love ’em! I even made a Spanish language one a lesson in my middle school Spanish classes because I love them so much.

This one is worth the read. I’m only 35, but the message rings true for me thus far in life as I age.

Well-Being

See this world as a free world, and see everyone in it as trying—through their individual experiences—to find their way back to that calling, back to that goodness, back to themselves. And even though there are billions of them going about it in a way that is different than you would choose, there’s no right or wrong way. In other words, bless them all, love them all, wish them all well, and get on with the only thing you have any power about, which is your own self and restoring yourself to your natural state of Well-Being.
